For the past three days, an average of 20,000 general tickets have been sold daily from Dhanbad to Prayagraj for the Kumbh Mela. Over 3500 reserved tickets are also sold daily. Due to overcrowding, even AC coaches on regular and special trains are filled beyond capacity. Over 400... complaints were received regarding overcrowding in AC coaches via social media. RPF and commercial department staff are deployed at the station and on trains to manage crowds, with commercial officers staying late to assist passengers boarding trains and manage ticket counter queues. On Sunday, a special train to Prayagraj was added. All AC and sleeper coaches of the Kumbh special train were converted to general coaches to accommodate the large number of passengers. On Saturday night, passengers occupied reserved AC seats on the Shipra Express upon arrival at Dhanbad. 298 passengers with reserved tickets waited at Parasnath. Commercial department staff persuaded passengers in AC coaches to disembark at Parasnath, allowing those with reservations to board. Displaced passengers were sent on a special train from Gomoh. Following a stampede at a Delhi railway station, Dhanbad Junction has increased security with joint RPF and GRP teams deployed on platforms and increased surveillance on Kumbh-bound trains.
